Persistence pays off!

This afternoon, my master's thesis was APPROVED. Yes, after dropping out of the PhD program almost two years ago, in my fourth year, I finally have a piece of paper (well, virtual, right now) to show for the work I put in! And how was I able to achieve this goal? By saying "no" and asking "why" at appropriate times when the bureaucratic folks challenged me.

In fact, I'd been *so* close to having the thesis done over the past few weeks, but had been turned away for picky formatting issues. There was one additional problem today, but I told them that since it was inconsequential (too small margin on the *right* side of figures, not the bound side), this was it for me. And they were fine with it!

So, per the schedule, I will be officially awarded the degree on September 1st, at the end of the summer quarter. I should receive my diploma another 6 months (gulp?!?!) after that.

But... nonetheless... I am DONE!!! Now, I can apply to teach chemistry and biology at junior colleges, which had been one of my goals in the first place! :D

And now, back to my regularly scheduled LIFE...
